Wegmans is coming to Harrisburg

Can you say WooHoo!? This article confirms the rumor.

"Population density, good transportation networks and development costs are some factors the company considers when picking a new location, said Jo Natale, manager of consumer services at Wegmans.

There are a "number of sites in the Harrisburg area that we are evaluating," Natale said, including a Cumberland County site at the Silver Spring Speedway. She said that there is no timeline for a decision.

No matter what, she added, competition will not be a primary concern."

This confirms everything I have come to believe about Wegmans. They are focused on picking the right locations. My favorite quote is competition is no their primary concern.

"The chain targets areas with higher incomes and the space to build large stores, she said." I said they should build one in Camp Hill for quite some time. But no matter people will drive 30 minutes easier to a location that will give Wegmans some room.
